What is a Kundli (Vedic Birth Chart)?
A Kundli, also called a Janam Kundali or Vedic Birth Chart, is a chart of the sky at the exact moment of your birth. It shows the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets in zodiac signs and across the 12 houses. In Vedic astrology, it is used to interpret personality, life path, career, relationships, health, and spiritual themes.
What is Lagna (Ascendant)?
Lagna is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth time. It is a key reference point in a Vedic birth chart and sets the framework for all 12 houses. In Vedic astrology, Lagna is used to interpret traits such as temperament, appearance, and approach to life. Even a few minutes' difference in birth time can shift the Lagna, which is why an accurate birth time is important for Kundli calculation.
What are Nakshatras?
Nakshatras are the 27 lunar mansions used in Vedic astrology. Each Nakshatra spans 13° 20' of the zodiac and has its own deity, symbol, and ruling planet. Your birth Nakshatra, which is based on the Moon's position, helps determine your Rasi and is used in compatibility systems such as Kundli Milan, where qualities like Varna, Yoni, Gana, and Nadi are assessed. It also forms the basis of Vimshottari Dasha, the planetary period system used in Vedic astrology.

What is Ayanamsa?
Ayanamsa is the angular difference between the Tropical zodiac used in Western astrology and the Sidereal zodiac used in Vedic astrology. The two zodiacs have gradually diverged over time because of the precession of the equinoxes. Lahiri Ayanamsa is the most widely used system in India, and Raman Ayanamsa is another well-known alternative.
